Overview
The Hydas corporate site was built using an SQL Server database which handled the product catalog. When Hydas added a retail e-commerce site, a more robust database was used to accomodate the more complex needs. Having two separate product databases meant more work when it came time to update the site.
While much of the data was the same between the two databases, each site did have a subset of unique information. The Hydas corporate site caters to wholesale customers while the e-commerce site caters to consumers. For this reason, each audience is presented slightly different information.
To solve this problem and streamline product updates, we integrated the two SQL Server databases. Each site retains its unique look and information while sharing a single database and management system.
